Junior Secondary School - JSS
Students’ wellbeing and learning must be maintained as they transition from primary to secondary schools. A student’s transition can be complicated by the social, emotional and physiological changes that can negatively impact on their learning. At KIS our Teachers at the Junior Secondary school fully understand how these changes impact on their students and they are well placed to help students make positive adjustments to their new school. The JSS school comprises of 3 classes JSS 1-3 with about five arms each in each class: Shine, Sharp, Spark, Spur and Star; making a total of about 12 class arms.
The subjects offered at the verious classes of the JSS school in KIS are designed to meet the requirements for admission to the next higher senior secondary school section and to prepare your kids for life. Thus, to gain admission into the JSS section, the following are required to ensure the process is seemless:
- Result Transcript from previous school where applicable,
- Pass grade in Entrance examination,
- Guarantors Reference Letter.
JSS: A Transformation Phase of Life
Early adolescence is an interesting period in a child's life. Some life changing choices can be made at this point in a person's life. At KIS, we provide numerous opportunities for students to paratake in scholarly activities, athletic activities and artistic activities that help them make better choices on what they want to become.
- Instruction in core academic subjects – English language arts, mathematics, social studies and science – places ever-greater emphasis on close reading, carefully crafted writing, critical thinking, social responsibility and creative problem-solving. Language study in English, French and the indigeneous langiages allow our students to build upon skills useful loccally and internationally in future.
One-on-One Participation
At KIS we promote one-on-one student participation. Our high Student to Teachers ratio promotes direct student mentorship and leadership training. Whatever path students choose, they are guided by solid core values, a strong sense of purpose and a commitment to bettering themselves and their world.
